Manti Dinner

Манты. Yum!Just got back from a dinner at my parents’ house. My favorite dish of all time — manti (манты) — one of the many great Uzbek dishes. My mom cooked a lot of different things, but everyone seemed to have ignored it all and went for the main thing. Too bad Arosha decided to cut the evening short by refusing to sleep in places other than his own bed.

Thank you, mama! Спасибо, мама! Ну и всем остальным кто помогал.

Manti

Making manti. Made all 70 of them, but 1.Yesterday mama agreed to make manti again. Usually Linka helps her out with making them, but she was gone this weekend. So in order to make this happen Alёna and I helped. Mama was making the dough, Alёna was loading it with meat and I am proud to say that I made all of them, but 1 — around 70 pieces.

My favorite meal of all time — manti (манты).Because I took such an important part in the process they came out especially good yesterday. Manti probably still is my favorite meal.

Shublik meets Rysya. Major hissing ensues. Also we took Shublik with us yesterday again. They got really close to each other with Rysya at one point and then had a starring and hissing competition for quite a while. It seems that Shublik has won since Rysya left first. Doesn’t seem like they want to be friends.

More Manti!

MantiManti is one of my very favorite things out there, that my mom and even grandma used to make for as long as I can remember. The cooking process is quite a bit time consuming and therefore we don’t get to eat them very often.

I figured I was going to eat a bagel for my breakfast today, but then I started looking at the pictures I took yesterday. Luckily my mom gave us some to go, so I’m going to eat some of them for breakfast!

There is one interesting tradition with them. My mom fills up one of them with doug instead of the meat. It is considered to be the lucky one. The person who gets it is going to have luck coming their way. Every single time that Alёna has been eating them with us I managed to put a lucky one on her plate, without really trying. But now that things in our life are finally starting to resolve we might share the luck with the rest of the family. Yesterday my dad grabbed the lucky one.

All right, time for my breakfast! Yum!
