Bayswater Point State Park

Plane taking off.In our quest to visit new places during weekends we found Bayswater Point State Park on a map. The park is only a 20 minutes ride from us, but what makes it unusual is the fact that it is located right across the water from JFK International Airport.

Alёna and her mom.Our first visit there was on December 22, 2013 — just a bit over a month ago. This Saturday we went back again. First time around I brought my 70-200mm lens with me and this time around I attached my 2x teleconverter to it to increase its reach to 400mm for some nice airplane shots.

Building a tower.JFK being JFK there are planes coming up and down non-stop. The plane that I like the most is Boeing 747, but I didn’t get any taking off on our 2nd trip. But I did get a couple of nice shots anyhow.

Us.Meanwhile Arosha loves playing with pebbles and shells. Last time he was running around and throwing all that stuff into the water. This time the water was frozen solid, so he decided to build a tower instead. And Anюta just sleeps well outside.

Using this as a wallpaper on my phone. All in all an usual place to visit. The only thing is that I keep underestimating how cold it is going to be near the water and end up freezing. Alёna keeps telling me to wear a certain thing and I think I know better. I really don’t. Should listen to my wife.

Alёna.P.S. I’m keep thinking of upgrading my Sigma 70-200mm to Nikon’s version one day. Although I don’t use it often it can create some unique shots because of its reach. However contrast and sharpness leaves a lot to be desired.

Arthur Von Briesen Park

Big brother.Today we had a full new family excursion. We packed our things, grabbed our kids and drove to Staten Island to a small quite park right across the bridge.

Autumn is here!We are much braver the second time around and it seems to be that Anna is a much calmer child than Arosha was at the same age.

Alёna.The park was great. There was not a soul there when we arrived. The early autumn is here and it is beautiful. Patches of yellow leaves on green grass make a very serene setting.

Daniеl.Arosha was happy to push Anna’s around in her stroller, run around the yellow leaves, picking up random sticks and proclaiming them his lightsabers and making up all kinds of games.

Arosha.Anna peacefully slept most of the time. When we were ready to leave she woke up, so Alёna feed her for 30 minutes and she was sound asleep again.

Family. We also had our camera with us so we took tons of pictures. I think a lot of them came out well, but I’m going to post just some. A little bit of all of us. Can’t wait for Annushka to grow up just a little bit so we could start doing a lot of family travel!

Alёnushka and Annushka.

First Snow 2013

Snow.Tonight we finally got first snow of the winter that actually stuck to the ground. Arosha kept asking Alёna over and over throughout the past weeks when the winter would arrive already. So we all dressed up and went for a walk. It’s nice to have a playground right across the street.

Arosha.Arosha had a lot of fun. He climbed all the structures in the park and took a ride on every single one of the slides in the park. All of them were extremely speedy because of the snow. Later on a couple of other families came out, but all the slides were snow free. Arosha did a thorough job. It was a fun evening.

Alëna.
