We’re making ourselves a holiday. We put up Christmas lights all over our living room a week ago and put up all kinds of New Year stuff around our apartment.

Yesterday we went out and bought a Christmas Tree for $50. Since this is our first New Year in our new home we wanted to get a real one. As always it really adds to the spirit of holidays with its look and especially smell.

Today we had a nice evening with friends. Lenchik, Alex and Maruks came over. We ate a small dinner and sat and talked for hours. For tomorrow Alena is cooking a Christmas dinner. I think I’m ready to start getting into the holiday mood as well.

The year 2007 was a great year for us, as the one before. Many things happened, but probably the most important achievement of the year is the acquisition of our own apartment and the fact that our parents have finally took the same step. Yesterday they closed the deal on their own apartment in the same building as ours. A couple of weeks of minor fixes and we’re all hoping that they’ll be celebrating the New Year in their new home.

The lobby of our building is already full of decorations and it always fills me in with a kind of a warm feeling every time I come home.
