Company Outing

John's house.Several weeks ago John has invited our whole Connecticut office over to his house for a company outing. Instead of taking my usual digital camera with me I decided to continue my film experiments and grabbed my dad’s old soviet made Zenit camera loaded with color film obtained at a local pharmacy.

View from the porch.I had the film processed at this point and I picked out a couple of decent shots out of the batch of 48 to post. I used The Darkroom for film development again. So the camera and film combination gave me nice soft focus, good looking bokeh and pleasant film grain.

Lake.I still had to pull out some color curves in post to get a more retro feel to the whole shoot. I don’t think I’ll be trying more color film at this point. If I ever have an urge to do more film photography I’ll stick to Black & White.

Pattern Walk

Yesterday we went for a work on which turned out to be an uncharacteristically cold day. We ended up looking for patterns and textures of all kind and taking photos. Here are some of them.

Just Rambling

Not-so-red-haired me with our 300CI think my hair’s got a mind of its own — not even two weeks has gone since I dyed it, and I’m back at almost blond again. shock shock shock Vaaaaaahhhhhhh!

On a different note — yesterday Lenchik came to NYC to pick up his “new” car — a bit rusty, but still sexy blue Caprice, which served us well for over 5 years. I hope he’ll be able to fix all the little annoying things that need fixing and will enjoy his oh-still-so-muscle blue monster! -)

My New Color

My new hair color.Last night I dyed my hair at the Chinese salon on 86th Street that I usually go to. I think it looks good, although I’m still not sure if I should regret it. I guess I got tired of wearing the same color for over 5 years. What worries me though is how my head is going to look like when the natural color will appear at roots. I guess, I’ll just have to wait and see. O.o teeth O.o

My new hair color. Also, I’m not sure what kind of make up will go best with this color. My sister suggested golden, brown, green and olive eye shadows, but since there is so much choice it’s really hard to make a decision on a particular brand/shade. And I always have a very hard time picking the lipstick color from even a small selection. Decisions, decisions… O.o

Autumn Colors

AutumnToday we had a mission. Drive out of the city to some place nice and find some autumn colors to capture on “film”. The trees in New York City just refuse to go yellow. Most of them are still green, some are ugly orange, nothing nice.

We woke up early (by weekend standards), picked up Ignat and drove all the way to Seven Lakes via Palisades Parkway — about 60 miles to the north of the city. Sadly for us the sun didn’t want to play our game — it was hiding behind the dark gray clouds. It’s upsetting, but we did the best we could with the available light and sky color.

I just looked through the pictures and there are definitely captures that makes the whole trip worth it. Not to mention the fact that the autumn does look beautiful up there.

I’ll post more pictures later as I have the time to go through them and make adjustments.
