4th Anniversary

Our guests.Today is the 4th anniversary of our marriage. I think in the past week or so we have passed another milestone in our lives — we’ve know each other for close to 8 years now and we’ve been married for the longer part of those years than non-married. And yet when we got married we thought we knew each other for eternity.

After all, all throughout the past 8 years we’ve hardly been apart. The longest was a week when I was on a business trip to Ukraine, and then the same thing again and on a 3rd one Alёna came with me. That last one was in October of 2006, a month before our wedding, when I got to meet Alёna’s family.

We both have a lot of very warm memories about that great day — November 23, 2006. Everyone who came to our wedding made it very special for us. We often recall small details here and there from that day. Thank you everyone for making it the way it was.

On our first anniversary we went back to Las Vegas and celebrated at the same very place where our wedding dinner was. Some friends joined us for the occasion. Our second anniversary was during our Southwestern road trip. We visited Carlsbad Caverns that day and had our anniversary dinner in a Chinese buffet located in our hotel in a tiny town of Artesia, New Mexico.

Our third anniversary we spent on Hawaii — the Big Island. It was “special” in its own way, but after we sorted all the problems out we visited amazing Akaka Falls and later on had our anniversary dinner at a pretty horrible restaurant, but it’s the company that matters. The day was memorable never the less. That vacations itself turned out to be life changing for us, as we’ve hoped it would.

This year we decided to shift our vacation to the first part of November, since we couldn’t get anywhere too far away from home and we didn’t want it to get too cold. Today I’m at work and Alёna’s home with Arosha who is being especially fussy today. We’re planning to have a candle-lit dinner today, to have a special memory of this day, but we promise to go back to our ways next year and keep up this good tradition for many years to come — meeting our anniversary in some exciting place.

I love my wife, I love my life. The past 4 years, the past 8 years have been amazing. I wish us many more of the same.
