We watched Avatar in 3D at a local theater. I had pretty low expectations and after watching the movie nothing really changed. Yes, the CGI is great. But the plot is rather primitive and there were moments which ran on for too long. Characters lacked complexity and were rather cartoonish. I don’t regret seeing it once and I wasn’t bored all throughout, but I don’t have any desire to see it again. (4)

I agree on 3.5 stars. Visual effects can’t substitute a good story. Sorry, Mr. Cameron. mrgreen

For me 3D was bad enough. It puts a lot of strain on the eyes. It’s possible that regular 2D would be preferable, as 3D might have been taking attention away from the movie itself.

Nope, I did not. The trailer didn’t look that impressive to me. I’ll probably pass.
