CheckSplit — iPhone App

After a long time of not moving ahead with this project I was persuaded by those around me to publish an app that I wrote and we were successfully using for months now.

So I added the final polishes to the application, created a mini-site for it with all the information about it, with the help of my wife put together a good screencast that demos the application and its functionality. And then it was uploaded to Apple for a review.

I’m happy to say that CheckSplit was approved by Apple and is up in the AppStore as of yesterday. I would appreciate any feedback and reviews.

First Week Sales

For those who are interested — here are the results of sales for the first week. I’ve included the first day in the chart, but it should be noted that the app was released somewhere late in the evening.

Overall it’s a pretty interesting experiment. While the app was showing up in new released, the sales very relatively strong. As the app moved off the first screen the “volume” went down. It’s also interesting to note that all other countries combined have got nothing on U.S. market alone.

Beside that I’ve been contacted by some buyers saying that they really like the simplicity and streamlined interface. There also have been some good feature suggestions that I’m going to try to implement.

Flat Tire

Unfortunate incident on the way home — got a flat tire. Heard a popping sound right in the middle of a bridge, but wasn’t sure what it was. Checking out the tire pressure monitoring system revealed a rather quickly dropping pressure in the rear tire.

Got of the highway right after the bridge. When I got out I could hear a loud hissing sound. Luckily the car came with a spare (donut type) and all the tools needed to change the wheel. The process was painless and it took me about 15 minutes, completely unlike my previous blown tire experience.

Now I have to get the main tire fixed tomorrow in the morning before work. Like I don’t have enough things to do.

Just Another Monday

Сегодня на ужин готовила окрошку – погода вполне распологает. Всю прошлую неделю была куча работы (“брэдятина” в отпуске, поэтому у всех больше нагрузка), так я вообще почти не готовила. Честно говоря, за неделю вся эта китайско-японско-турецкая fast food в печенках уже.

На этой неделе тоже много работы (как у меня, так и у Дани) — зато, думаю, отпуск покажется еще более приятным!

Выходные прошли очень спокойно. Мы постирали, убрали квартиру и даже пополнили запас Шубликиной еды и наполнителя для туалета. Я вообще не люблю стирать (а уж про гладить я вообще молчу), но всё же справедливости ради стоит заметить, что тут это делать совсем не сложно. Да, в кооперативной квартире типа нашей запрещено держать стиральные машинки, но зато с раннего утра до позднего вечера можно постирать и высушить бельишко в казённом агрегате за вполне приемлемую плату.

А вообще хочется на великах покататься. Эх — вот и всё что могу пока сказать по этому поводу.

Hiking Shoes Update

Just received a new pair of hiking shoes, just in time for our Yellowstone trip. Yellow shoes for Yellowstone. Nice.

Experience shows that the last pair I ordered turned out to be 2 sizes too small. I tried ordering a different model, but I didn’t like neither the fit nor the look. So I got¹ exactly the same model as the one I currently have, only the right size this time.

We keep complaining that our summer just will not get here, but it sure got to Phoenix. I still have a page left in my Weather App on the phone since our last trip there, and it amazes me every time I see it.

Car Sticker

When we took delivery of our car the sales guy folded down the sticker and gave it to me. This is my first new car and so is the sticker. I wanted to scan it in for a while now and here it is.

Yesterday we safely arrived to Colorado and were greeted by Eldar in the airport. We did our cycling as we planned and were surprised to see that our training didn’t completely go away. It was a lot of fun. We’re getting ready to leave for WY now.
