So I’m mostly sitting home for the last couple of weeks. I desperately look for any more or less decent job or internship, but, as you probably heard, the economy is kind of going downhill, so there are less opportunities for an entry level than I hoped there would be. Oh well.
I went on a couple of interviews so far. Nothing too fancy, although one company really got me interested. The job seem to be pretty routine, but I would still be excited to get in. And I liked the people who interviewed me as well — the division that they’re hiring to has only 6 people, and I’ve met them all. I had a second interview with them today, but I’m not sure if I am the candidate they are looking for. At least they gave me a chance, and nothing boosts my self-esteem more at the moment than going on second interviews (well, probably a job offer will be even more effective).
Since everybody keeps saying that Excel is widely used and important for any analyst position, I’ve ordered the Excel Bible 2007. I’m still not sure if that was a right choice — maybe, I should have ordered the book that goes through the older version. But the newer Excel is pretty similar to the older one, so I think at the end it doesn’t really matter which one I’ll be more familiar with. I like reading the book and discovering helpful little tricks (didn’t get too far in my reading yet, because I only got the book the day before yesterday).
My mood overall is more optimistic than pessimistic. I mean, I finally graduated — and at one point, when I was working for Habib, it seemed like a distant dream. So I’ll find a job sooner or later (I hope the high GPA will help me get some interviews). The only thing that I regret now is not taking an internship last summer. I guess, I didn’t realize how important it would be. Danya and his parents are very supportive, and their positive attitude also helps me not to get overly worried and depressed.
