Yesterday was a fun day. Well, apart from the visit to the ophthalmologist in order to figure out what’s going on with Danya’s eye (the diagnosis is “floaters”).
So after the 2-hours visit to the doctor, we met with Ignat, and took a D train to get to the Greek Gyro place located in Downtown Brooklyn. Now, if you know Danya personally, you probably heard him talking about that place.
It could’ve been something like “the best gyro I ever had”, or “nobody can make the white sauce like those guys”, or “Ooo, I would so eat that gyro from Greeks now”, or…
Well, there is a lot of truth in his words. A gyro platter from that place indeed kicks ass!
I know that he used to eat lunch there very often during his college years and while working for Igor S.
The weather was beautiful yesterday: the temperature somewhere in the 70s F, lots of sun, and fresh wind. According to the plan, which was devised the day before, we went to the Brooklyn Bridge for a little walk. The bridge is charming. It’s quite old by American standards - over 120 years old.
At night Alex joined our little company and we played some Poker. Danya wanted to try this game for quite a while. Well, what can I say? I’m a risk avert person, and I can’t bluff. Maybe, when I figure out this game a little more, I’ll be able to win at least ONCE.
To make the game more interesting, we used real money to make bets, starting with 10 cents. As a result Danya and I lost about 2 dollars, and our guests went home with their pockets just a little bit heavier (well, coins are heavy, aren’t they?).
The finish line to the day was drawn by a little dinner at the local TGIF. I couldn’t help thinking about how we were dating back in the days when I worked there as a waitress.
Good times! Good memories!

Btw, about that diagnosis… Floaters is the symptom, not the cause. It’s like going to a doctor and complaining that your leg hurts, and the doctor would say “well what you got there is leg pain”. I find it very strange when doctors say stuff like that, but I guess I’m not really surprised. I’ve been told by doctors that my chipped tooth will grow back, and that “it’s not acne, it’s pimples”.

I’m going to try to see another doctor tomorrow. She checked my eyes and said that she doesn’t see anything serious like “retinal detachment”, but I better make sure, even though I do have 2 eyes.

Nah, I’m sure she’s right that it’s nothing serious. Unless it gets worse, stick with that. I just don’t understand why they give the name of the symptom as diagnosis. Maybe “floaters” sounds less scary than something like “posterior vitreous detachment”.
