This Sunday we made plans to get a ride to the Statue of Liberty, but it was not meant to be. First of all Lenchik was late which delayed us by an hour or so. Then we missed our subway stop and had to walk all the way from Grand Street. When we got there all the tickets were sold out anyway. And to top it all off my battery on the camera died in the middle of the day because I forgot to recharge it.

All of that, however, didn’t make the trip less interesting. I was experimenting with my new ND gradation filter that Eldar got me for my birthday, and came up with a lot of
great shots. I took some shots without the filter for comparison and the sky was completely washed out (white) as opposed to the rich color and shapes with the filter.

Every time I’m in Manhattan these days, I understand more and more how much I’ve come to love this city. I think I’ve said it before, but I’m still amazed at how interesting and how different it can be. Long live, New York! The picture above is of a
sphere that was located on the square in front of WTC towers. Coincidentally, today is the 6th anniversary of that horrific day.

Back to our trip. Since we were late for the Liberty Island itself we decided to get a free ride on the Staten Island ferry. Too bad that my camera was dead by then, as I could have taken some great shots. That gives us a reason to repeat the trip again. Hopefully weather is going to be good this upcoming weekend.
P.S. Which reminds me, tickets should be booked 48 hours in advance for access to the observatory.

I also enjoyed our walk though some streets of China Town. Crowds of people, sharp smell of fish near some grocery stores, exotic fruits and vegetables on side-of-the-street lots, ethnic music in a little park on our way… It’s amazing, how different this part of New York city is from the one we live in.
The ferry ride was fun too. Manhattan looks beautiful from all angles!

I liked China Town too. It was very interesting. I enjoyed also our quick walk through Manhattan. There were a lot of beautiful buildings. I’m determined to visit those churches we were passing by
The ferry ride is also one of the best memories.
