When we went to Virginia Beach for the first time in 2004 we stumbled upon a small art gallery. We usually check those places out to see if they have anything that we would like to have in our apartment. I’m a big fan of contemporary, abstract art, but I haven’t seen anything that I would like as much as the work of J.C. Kugler that we saw in this gallery.
The father of J.C. Kugler is also an artist, and had his work at the same gallery. However we found that the work of the son was more to our taste, even though J. Kugler’s (father) work is equally impressive.
Anyhow, the first time we were there, we couldn’t really afford to buy anything, since it was the time when Alena just lost her job. When we were there for the second time we didn’t really have any more empty space in our apartment, but we still stopped by the gallery again, to look at what they had there at the moment.
This time around however we had a new apartment, and a wall that was just asking for something like that. There were several different pieces and we picked out 2 that we thought would work the best for us. We ended up paying $450 for both of them framed, but we feel it’s worth it for a pair of original art works by a known artist. We wanted to get them for a long time now, so we finally did it.

Here’s the address that comes up on the CC bill:
UNITED OIL PAINTINGS INC
2122 ATLANTIC AVE
VIRGINIA BEACH VA 23451-3347
Google seems to suggest a somewhat different address (a couple of blocks off):
1818 Atlantic Ave
Virginia Beach, VA
One of these has got to be a correct one.

I have a Kugler painting that I need to sell. I am now living in a small apartment. How do I find out what the market price is now? And would there be any place in my area that could sell it for me? (I live in Manchester NH). Any information you can give me would be helpful. anne

I don’t think we can really help you. We are not dealers or anything. We’re just regular people who liked the paintings and bought them. That’s all.

I have been purchasing both father and son Kugler paintings over the last couple years. The resale on these paintings is around half of the gallery prices, depending on the piece. If you are interested in selling these paintings please send me an email with an asking price. I’m from Pennsylvania so I may be able to arrange pick up or pay to have them shipped. Thanks

Andy,
My asking price is $500.00.

i just bought a jc kugler painting.
i was chatting with this guy who had just opened up this art gallery at my local mall.
i commented on the talents of the artist who had done some of the abstract paintings (i had never heard of kugler), and the guy got the biggest smile on his face and said that he was the painter.
so i think i actually met him.
he signed the back of the painting to me.
i’m just not 100% sure it was legit. i mean, i just have his word.
i think the painting is an original. the signiture on the back matches one i found online. it isn’t anything like the one on the front, but just like the one i saw on a certificate of authenticity that was included on one of his paintings up for auction on some random site. i think a con would have tried to match the sig on the front.
my main concern is that it maybe is a print.
i don’t know how to tell.
except for the thin, squigly white line that goes over the top, nothing else has texture, and there are no brush-strokes visible.
is this similar to anyone elses kugler pieces?

Sometimes we just dont think. I left a bad relationship and walked with nothing after seventeen years. The one thing however that I wanted was my painting done by J. Kugler and his father. I didnt get it, so If anyone knows of a shop where his work is sold please let me know. I am in Delaware.

Tim, those are like mine, which I bought because I love them, and didn’t care if they’re originals. There’s no “original” stamp or anything on mine.

There is a gallery in Virginia Beach and also in the Chesepeke mall and Chesterfield Mall.
Lynn Haven mall has a gallery opening up soon.
I know demand for his pieces make them kind of hard to come by, but there should be a few left.

We have a 24 x 50 Kugler that was purchased about 10 years ago. Similar of course to those in the store. We are looking to see where we can find the value for J. Kugler. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. We also have an Alan Aldridge if you know who that is.

I have a J Kugler Senior oil painting 36″ wide by 24″ high…canvas on stretcher not framed. This is available for sale. We do ship world wide. This is an oil of a brook running through a forest.

I have a 3×5 unframed JC Kugler available for sale in Irvington, VA. It is at least 20 years old, abstract, pastel pink & blue with some darker colors. I am trying to find out the market price for this painting before I move to AZ June 3.

I currently have a framed original J Kugler abstract oil for sale. It’s 38″ x 50″ and absolutely gorgeous. I’ve got it listed on Craigslist right now, with photos:

If anyone is interested in purchasing, I’ll be happy to talk.

It’s really unclear why all the people above thought it would be a good idea to post their “for sale” ad on someone’s personal blog.
