Turns out that that first long weekend of the year is almost upon us already! Not to miss the opportunity we decided to do exactly the same thing we did last year - go to Virginia Beach.

There were only a couple of available hotels left and one of them was Hilton Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Luckily for everyone involved (Ignat and Lenchik) we had enough points to get it for free on our Hilton card. Otherwise it would’ve cost us $279 per night. Chances are we’re not going to get an ocean-view room, but it doesn’t matter too much. The hotel has a pool and jacuzzi and we can certainly get our hands on a case of Corona Beer.

Currently the plan is to leave Brooklyn very early on the Saturday morning - around 4am or so. However I’m thinking that maybe it makes sense to get a cheap motel somewhere close to Virginia Beach, along our route, so we could drive out on Friday night instead. This way we’ll cover most of the way there, spend the night, and then wake up to a full day of rest. Otherwise we’ll end up driving for at least half of Saturday and probably will be pretty tired by the time we get there.

We should discuss this with Lenchik and Ignat and see what they think. I’m think I’m leaning toward this 2nd option.
