Meat Pie

Meat PieThis recipe I found yesterday on Kuking.net forums. Both Danya and I liked the result. Since we took some pictures, I decided to post the recipe here in case somebody would like to try it:

For the dough:

  1. 100 gm. sour cream
  2. 100 gm. butter milk
  3. 100 gm. any oil (I took extra virgin olive oil)
  4. 1 egg
  5. 1 table spoon of mayo
  6. 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  7. pinch of sugar
  8. 10 gm. baking powder
  9. 2,5 glasses of flour

Mix all the ingredients except flour and baking powder. Then shift flour and baking powder in and make a dough. Cover with a towel and let it rest for about an hour.

For the filling:
  1. 250 gm. lean ground pork
  2. 250 gm. ground beef
  3. 3 medium size onions
  4. 1 potato
  5. 3 cloves of garlic
  6. 50 ml. broth or water
  7. pinch of ground coriander (I added about a teaspoon)
  8. 1 table spoon of starch
  9. 1 egg white
  10. salt, pepper
  11. handful of black olives
  12. 70 gm. of cheese (I added about a 110 gm. of Jack cheese)

Grate onions and a potato using a beet grater, add ground meat in. Add the rest of the ingredients except cheese and black olives, mix well.

Meat Pie SliceDivide the dough in 2 parts. One part roll out to 1 sm thickness. Put the filling on top of it, leaving out the edges about 2 sm wide. Put diced cheese and olives into the filling. Roll out the second part of the dough and put it on top, pressing edges together. Brush the pie with a mixture of egg yolk and milk. Sprinkle with sesame and coriander seeds. Using a fork make couple of holes in the pie. Put into a preheated oven. Cook at 370 F degrees for 40 minutes or until golden brown.
