Yesterday we decided to give ourselves a mini tour of Manhattan to see all the holiday sights. We called Ignat, met up near subway and went on our way. We decided to get out on 34th street near Macy’s.

At this point somebody (probably me) got a bright idea to get on top of Empire State Building. I always wanted to do it, however pre-new year Saturday probably wasn’t the best time. The thing is that we did get on top, however it took us at least 3 hours, standing in some enormous mega line. At one point Ignat was even suggesting to eat our tickets and leave, so we wouldn’t feel too bad about the money that we spent on them.

It was very cold on top, however the views were great. We took a bunch of pictures, but because we didn’t have a tripod with us the quality of the images suffered.

After we were done we went to drink some well deserved beer at O’Flaherty’s Ale House and eat some steaks! We walked through Times Square which was even crazier than usual. Today it’s probably even worse - people are coming from all over the place to see the famous new year ball drop.

All in all it turned out to be a great day / evening. Should take subway more often - no problems with parking, and no problems with drinking.
