After the 2 years of WoW reign, it left a noticeable impact. The addiction of it is not so easy to break it seems. We still keep playing, even though we don’t spend nearly as many hours as we once did. However it might change once again in a near future (although I doubt very much that it’ll be again as it was in the peak of UGH raiding days). You see, there are about 6 more weeks left until the expansion comes out, and we’re definitely buying it.
I somehow ended up with a beta invite, and I spent some time checking out what Blizzard has in store for us. From what I’ve seen it looks like we’ll have some fun leveling our characters again, together with Eldar (yes, Gnaw has been seen in the world of Azeroth lately). From what we all remember it was the best time for us. Running together, doing things on our free time, and not planning our lives around the raids. Exploring the Outlands should give us some more of that good, old gaming.
Tomorrow Blizzard is releasing the last pre-expansion patch, which will contain a lot of changes that were originally destined to come out with the expansion, like new (and much better) PvP system, new talents and so on. Even though you can not start gaining new levels just yet (limit will be raised from 60 to 70 in the expansion) there is new stuff to explore tomorrow. Beside all the old things, new Arena system (not available until expansion) seems like it could be a lot of fun. Too bad I suck at PvP though.
In the mean time we tried playing Neverwinter Nights 2 with Eldar. Even though it seems like a good game, the missing MMO part makes it a totally different experience. I’m still not quite sure what makes World of Warcraft so addicting, but so far there is absolutely nothing out there, game-wise, that was able to take my attention away from it.

We’re not hardcore.”
