Daniel and Eldar are watching Night watch (Ночной дозор) right now, and later we’re planning to enjoy Day Watch (Дневной дозор) which we bought today. Movies are based on the homonymous novels by Sergey Lukyanenko (Сергей Лукьяненко).
Although imho those aren’t his best works (I read the whole trilogy - Night Watch, Day Watch, Dusk Watch), NW came out pretty nice. I watched it twice already. First time was frustrated - guess, my expectations were too high (worst thing that can screw up perception even of a great movie) and also the book was altered, adopted for big screen (which is normal in my understanding), but I remembered it too vividly and was annoyed a bit. My friends say that DW is even better
We’ll see…
In general Lukyanenko is one of my favourite SF&F writers. I read almost all his published works, greatly enjoyed about 90% of them and even reread some couple of times.
Ha, just did some research on google and found out that there is one more book in the series - Final Watch (Последний Дозор). Need to go to a Russian bookstore
And another new novel which I didn’t read yet- Rough Draft (Черновик). Vah, want it now!!!!!
I’m reading pretty interesting fantasy book at the moment- Wizard’s first rule by Terry Goodkind. As far as I understand, that’s a first book in a series. Reminds me of J.K. Rolling and her Haryy Potter masterpieces (hehe, I’m not afraid of this word!) I call it light reading
Relaxes me and makes everyday routine a bit less dull.

Well, after watching a Dnevnoi Dozor (Day Watch) I can say that I liked the first movie better. Eldar seems to agree as well. But then again, we probably should wait a while and watch it again. A lot of stuff I did not understand, so maybe after we watch it again in a while, we’ll like it more.

I have read all three books now and enjoyed them. I can not find a single thing about The Final Watch being published in english, i do hope it is because to leave it there would be awful.
Any info would be appreciated.

Hey Paulie,
Honestly, I have no idea if and when the Final Watch will be published in English. I was trying to find this information on the Russian language sites for you, but there was nothing (found the full version of the book posted in Russian though, but I don’t think that’s of any help to you). I didn’t read it yet, because, as I mentioned, the whole Dozor business was Ok, but less enjoyable than other Lukyanenko books.
As for the movie - it looks like the theatrical release date was June 1, 2007, but I don’t know when it’ll be released on DVD.
